XP & Hyper-V

I like Hyper-V a lot. Runs as a service, can sync guest startups and shutdowns with the host, and on top of everything it’s free. Built into Windows, if you know where to look.

Car Talk Weekly Puzzler 08-02-16

Received this puzzle via email today. How do you make a 31 day calendar (each day being double digits) using 2 cubes, with each face only having a single digit? RAY: This came from Jonathan Cox, from across the pond. He writes: I have a stylish little desk calendar that consists of a cradle for […]

Community Fileshare

So this was a pretty rough adventure. The goal was to have an area where a few friends could upload and download files. The biggest reason for this being that my servers have fairly decent connections, with speed and latency being very favourable. One thing I noticed was that if user 1 uploads files into […]

Making Progress

So far I’ve made quite a lot of progress with the Octopress/Jekyll migration from Ghost. I had to swap out some tags from markdown to liquid (such as image tags) but I like the ease of adding media. Video for example is a lot easier to add to my posts, because Ruby handles the insertion […]

It’s Alive

Man this was time consuming. I’ve been working on this for the last 7 and hours or so. It’s still not “done” but it’s working! In all honesty, this would’ve been a lot smoother had I not already had an existing Github Pages repo. I should’ve just nuked the entire repository and octopress installation hours […]

Migrating to Jekyll

Working on migrating everything over from Ghost to Jekyll using Ocotopress & Github Pages. Man this isn’t easy.

Windows’ Settings app crashing

What’s happening here is when you click “Update & security,‘ the first page automatically loads. This page is Windows Update. If you don’t let this page load fully before continuing, say to the Backup page for example, the application may/will crash. If you leave it open long enough even not on the tab, it won’t crash. […]

TV Show Tracking

So having just finished Person of Interest season 4, I thought it would be a good idea to update my SideReel account. SideReel is a nice site that I’ve neglected use of for quite some time, even though I’ve had an account for a little over 4 years now. I’m just learning today how unfortunate […]

Symbolic Links

Apparently manipulating symbolic links in Windows is a very difficult task. Even though it’s literally just a shortcut, it’s impossible to simply copy the shortcut file. Attempting to completely locks up Windows Explorer’s file copy dialog. Nice job Microsoft

Reinstalling 10

Decided to make a system image before reinstalling, to make life easier. Windows decided to throw one last curve-ball. When preparing for the image, Windows decided to force include 1.5TB worth of partitions. That’s a bit much, when I only wanted my 250GB SSD. I had to use Disk Manager to remove the drive letters […]
